Anna Cheechov’s journey into the birth world began with her own pregnancy in late 2012. Fascinated by the everyday miracle unfolding in her body, she immersed herself in books on pregnancy and childbirth, eager to experience it all. The transformational birth of her daughter, Nola Darling, became the spark for her lifelong passion. Having felt the deep value of doula support during her own birth, Anna was inspired to offer that same care to others during this powerful time of becoming.

She completed her DONA doula training in late 2013 with Rina Crane in NYC and began supporting families the following year. During labor, Anna brings her love of movement, massage, breathwork, essential oils, and reiki to help guide families through this process. Also a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC), she supports all feeding methods, including body and breastfeeding, pumping, and bottle feeding - believing that just like pregnancy and birth, the feeding journey for each family is unique. Anna also offers placenta preparation for consumption or ritual, and private childbirth education classes to tailored to birthing plans and preferences. Within her doula practice, she believes there is no single “right” way to give birth or parent - only what’s right for you!

Starting her practice when Nola was just six months old, Anna has grown as a woman and mother alongside the families she’s served. Nola is now 12 and thriving as horse loving Jersey girl, while Anna’s son Alvin - born at home in Brooklyn two years ago - adds joyful chaos to the mix.

Currently a Co-Director of the NYC Doula Collective and an active mentor, Anna loves sharing wisdom of this wild work we do, fostering community, and creating systems and structures for doulas to grow as entrepreneurs and birthworkers.

Originally from Sacramento, CA where she became a yoga teacher and studied Business and Philosophy, Anna has called the East Coast home for over a decade. Now based near Princeton, NJ, she enjoys the space and calm outside of the city, while serving families across NYC, NJ, PA and virtually.
